My Lil’ Gary was not exactly little, he stood six foot six and had a heart just as big. Gary was my only child; he was my protector, my helper, and my best friend. The way he smiled lit up a room and his arms, which our family referred to as his wingspan, were always ready for a hug. Gary never missed a family gathering, whether it is weddings, birthdays or funerals he had to be right in the middle of it. He truly loved his family and would talk about having a family of his own one-day and how he would raise his children. Gary was an incredible salesman; he worked as a sales rep for Gateway Computers right out of high school and was top in sales almost every month. He was working at USAA selling commercial insurance when he was murdered, he was doing very well and his co-workers loved him dearly. Gary had a lot of friends, many which were police officers. Gary decided that he was ready to make a career change and planned to take the test to be an officer but his life was cut short at the age of 22. Gary accepted Christ at the age of seven and was always active in church youth groups. I was always very proud of him; my mom always teased me that I did not deserve such a sweet child…I guess God gave me Gary to help me make changes in my early life. Gary was the most incredible gift I could ever receive. Gary’s favorite pastimes were hunting with his Papa, floating down the Frio River in Concan, water skiing and playing lots of basketball. The picture is with his roommate’s dog, Rosco taken a little over a month before he died, Gary loved that dog and took him everywhere with him. Unfortunately Roscoe died during the murder trial that occurred one year after Gary died, it was the day after Gary’s roommate testified in the trial…………… Holly Hammon, Gary’s mom
